My Beauty Philosophy

I’m thrilled to join Marshall Lifestyle Medicine- a practice that understands it’s treating the whole person that leads to the best outcomes aesthetically, and lets a person be his/her best self. Looking better, feeling better, performing better, and living better doesn’t arrive by treating a patient only when they’re ill, it means taking active care of the patient every day- when they don’t feel there’s anything to “do” or “treat”.

We’ve all heard the age-old adage: “Beauty is only skin deep”, but I would argue that beauty is actually far more involved. Beauty isn’t merely an external characteristic; it’s an outward manifestation of our inner health, beginning at the deep, internal level. My expertise is with injectable dermal fillers (Juvederm, Restylane, Radiesse, etc.) and neurotoxins (Botox, Dysport, etc). I can make wonderful changes for my patients with these aesthetic tools, but real lasting results are only partially achieved through these strategies alone. Your best result will be observed through a multi-faceted approach, including proper nutrition, exercise, adequate hydration & sleep, stress management, and hormonal balance. Finding this balance prepares the body well for the “skin deep” portion of aesthetics, which is where I can be of particular assistance.

My approach includes assessing your skin’s unique needs and suggesting an at-home skin care regimen that compliments those needs. I assess the skin’s quality, tone, texture, and pigment, and recommend complimentary aesthetic treatments, including IPL, dermaplaning, laser therapy, and chemical peels. I assess the face for harmony and balance, and offer treatments that will bring individual facial components into better balance. Sometimes this means using a dermal filler to correct volume loss or sagging/wrinkling skin. Other times this is using a neurotoxin to soften lines of expression that over time make deep creases in the skin of the forehead, around the eyes, and around the mouth. My expertise doesn’t stop at the face- I’m also experienced at treating body areas like the chin/neck with Kybella to reduce excess fat, and  assessing the abdomen, hips/flanks, inner/outer thighs, and arms to see if a patient is a good candidate for Smart liposuction.

The philosophy that guides my practice is naturalism. I believe that naturalism is the most important aspect of what I do in aesthetics. We’ve all seen “bad” examples of aesthetic work- all too often we start to believe that these results are the norm. Aesthetic treatments should enhance a patient’s natural beauty, not detract from it. In the right hands, this is what happens. My patients ask for a natural result that makes them look refreshed, more energized, more youthful, and more beautiful. For some patients restoration means replacing volume, which we naturally lose as we age. For others, it means adding structure to areas that have always had a deficiency, or reducing excess fat in other areas. The key is respecting each individual’s unique identity, and never creating something that is out of line with someone’s natural form.

I hope that you’ll give me an opportunity to work with you to enhance your natural beauty and help you reach your “best self”. Looking, feeling, and living your best life is a never-ending pursuit, and one that it is important to have a partner to share the journey with and assist you with achieving your goals.
